After playing Peter Parker for so long, Tom Holland found it impossible to play a cool guy like Nathan Drake in Uncharted.
Tom Holland discusses the most difficult difficulty he had when playing Nathan Drake in Uncharted.
Holland is most known for playing the geeky Peter Parker in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
In Uncharted, Tom Holland describes the most difficult component of playing Nathan Drake. The first film adaptation of the popular Uncharted video game franchise is finally on the road, after years of development delays and director changes.
The film, which releases this month, stars Holland as Nathan Drake, a young adventurer and riches hunter. Mark Walberg plays his tutor Sully, and Antonio Banderas plays the game’s main antagonist, a competing treasure seeker. The film will also include Tati Gabrielle and Sophia Ali. According to Screenrant, veteran Uncharted fans were hesitant when Holland was first hired as Drake due to his age and tiny stature. Holland, on the other hand, acknowledged the challenges that developed as a result of the former in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter regarding both Uncharted and No Way Home.
When it comes to Drake’s personality, a new project may always push an actor into unexplored territory, as unexplored did with Holland. Holland was open about what was new to him. According to Screenrant, “one of the most difficult aspects about this character was playing “the cool guy.” Historically, I’ve always played the outsider who doesn’t have many friends and isn’t the popular child. So Nathan Drake is the polar opposite, and it took me a long to adjust to and feel comfortable doing so.”
Holland is best known for his depiction of the geeky Peter Parker in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which has taken up the majority of his career thus far. He’s also given notable performances in films like Cherry and The Devil All the Time in recent years, allowing him to break free from the superhero archetype. However, as Holland pointed out, it’s still unusual for him to play someone who can be classified simply as cool. As a result, Nathan Drake assigned Holland a duty that few could have predicted but that most likely served as a great learning experience.
