Tom Holland and Chris Pratt are reportedly in talks to play Jak and Daxter in a film version.
According to MyTimeToShineHello, a film industry leaker with a proven track record of reporting on Marvel-related movie news. Holland is being prepared to play Jak, and Pratt is being “eyed” to play Daxter.
In addition, MyTimeToShineHello revealed that Uncharted director Ruben Fleischer will be directing this adaptation.
Fleischer first mentioned in 2022 that he was working on a Jak and Daxter adaptation. The director stated in February of last year that he thought this series would be “really cool to bring to life.” And, of course, he has prior experience working with Holland, who played protagonist Nathan Drake in Uncharted.
Perhaps coincidence, Holland has previously stated his desire to play Jak in any Jak and Daxter adaption. Last year, the actor expressed interest in seeing “a really weird and dark” live-action adaptation of the games.
Meanwhile, Pratt is no stranger to portraying video game characters, having voiced Mario in last year’s smash success, The Super Mario Bros. Movie.
Holland and Pratt had previously worked together, voicing brothers in Disney Pixar’s fantasy film Onward.
Eurogamer has reached out to Sony for comment.
Sony intimated earlier this year that it had “more than ten projects in development and production across the film and television groups.”
To mention a few, this includes a Horizon Zero Dawn TV series, the second season of the critically acclaimed The Last of Us, and the newly released Gran Turismo film.
