Zendaya makes the high-low skirt appear new once more

Recall a few years ago when the first high-low hemlines appeared on runways and then, soon after, in stores? All of a sudden, it appeared like every dress or skirt had that maxi-length in back and mini-length in front style. Although asymmetrical hems in various forms are still very much in style, that specific “mullet” design hasn’t been particularly cutting edge for a while.

Until Zendaya appeared on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon” on Tuesday, that is, dressed in this pistachio-colored costume by Sies Marjan. The ensemble consisted of an oversized sweater with form-fitting sleeves that casually dropped down one shoulder, together with a silky skirt that displayed a high-low hemline along with a number of mysterious danglers (could we refer to them as wide ribbons?). Unclenched ties? Skirt broadcasters? Whichever they are, they appeared impressive. The “Spider-Man: Homecoming” actor accessorized the costume with stick-straight hair, glittery Christian Louboutin stilettos, and minimal makeup that emphasized her luscious lips. Zendaya is the perfect example of how a fad that we though was ending isn’t really over until she says it is.
