Zendaya’s Emmys gown included the ultimate hidden surprise

Zendaya can always be counted on to provide a show-stopping red carpet moment. Aside from the Met Gala Cinderella transformations, incredible torso sculptural designs, and neon yellow gowns, we’re obsessed with last night’s Emmys look.

The actress, who favors a strapless neckline on the red carpet, enlisted the help of celebrity stylist Law Roach to put together her ensemble. He chose the most eye-catching piece, courtesy of Valentino, which allowed Zendaya to radiate a contrast-filled attitude. The luxury black gown flowed to the floor and featured a broad hem shape and peplum waist that mirrored Christian Dior’s iconic ‘New Look’ silhouette that grew to popularity in the post-war period.

The outfit also has pockets, the ultimate concealed element. A concealed pocket in a dress is a blessing for most women, and Zendaya made frequent use of them, sliding her hands in for shots as she walked down the red carpet. If we had to guess, the Lancôme face would have used them to store her favorite lipstick from the company. Which makes sense given that there was no handbag or clutch in sight.

The 26-year-old’s style had an air of inexperience about it, accentuated by a padded black headband filled in Sloaney references, but she emanated refinement. The actress, on the other hand, kept things interesting with a splash of extravagance along her collar.

She donned an incredible Bvlgari piece with over 17 carats of diamonds, as well as a statement ring and a set of subtle studs.

The actress, whose glam squad included hairstylist Tony Medina and makeup artist Sheika Daley, looked stunning in a scraped-back bouffant hairstyle with a peachy flush across both her lips and cheeks.

Plus, it wasn’t only Zendaya’s red carpet talent that shone at last night’s ceremony; the actress made Emmys history with her win. She became the youngest two-time Emmy winner for her performance as Rue, a teenage addict, in the hit series Euphoria.

“My greatest wish for Euphoria is that it could help heal people,” she said in her acceptance speech for the award of Outstanding Lead Actress.

“I want you to know that anyone who has loved a Rue or feels like they are a Rue, I want you to know that I am so grateful for your stories, and I carry them with me, and I carry them with her.”
