There were many standouts, with trends focusing on sequins, velvet, and plunging necklines, as well as mustard yellow, burgundy, and white. A white floor-length apron dress by Louis Vuitton on up-and-comer Alicia Vikander, who is proving to be one of Tinseltown’s most stylish, was one of the evening’s most simple yet lovely outfits. Meanwhile, 78-year-old Jane Fonda, ever the fountain of youth, looked royal in an off-white gown with an exaggerated ruffled top by Hedi Slimane for Yves Saint Laurent Couture. Taraji P. Henson went for a more casual look in a white strapless Stella McCartney gown, but she added drama by twirling her train for the photographers.
