New footage of Copenhagen’s penalty shootout against Manchester United has been released, with fans persuaded that the strike saved by Onana should be retaken

Some fans believe that Copenhagen should have been allowed to retake their penalty against Manchester United last night.

At Old Trafford, Erik ten Hag’s squad defeated their Danish opponents 1-0.

A second moaned: “Onana off his line before the penalty was taken. Who is responsible for monitoring the goalkeeper?”

While a third blasted: “The penalty should have retaken because onana legs are outside the line…”

Other fans, disagreed with this assessment.

One tweeted: “I haven’t seen many replays or angles of this but it looks like the tiniest part of his heel is just on the line.”

A second added: “Nope, his right foot still on the line when ball struck…”

Another social media user was furious with the decision to even give a penalty, writing: “Never a penalty in a million years”

To which a further tweeter replied: “If it was rigged I don’t think we would’ve got a penalty against us lad.”

His save was lawful as long as at least part of Onana’s foot made contact with the goal line.

United’s victory brought them to within one point of Galatasaray at the halfway mark of their group play.

They will next go to Copenhagen for a rematch before heading to Turkey to face Galatasaray.

On December 12, they will host Bayern Munich to end their group stage.

Ten Hag stated of his goalkeeper after the game, “He showed personality.”

“He knows that before, given the levels of what his skills are, he didn’t match his skills and he could do better.

“I think on Saturday it was a very good performance and today as well.

“Don’t forget that brilliant save just after half-time in the counter-attack. And also don’t forget, one of his skills is he’s a very good penalty saver.”
