Erik ten Hag’s goalkeeper selection headache will worsen when Andre Onana is expected to miss up to seven games, according to the Daily Star.
After taking over for David de Gea in the summer, Onana has had a rough start to life at Old Trafford. Despite tahe enormous strain, Onana was Manchester United’s standout performer in their defeat to Manchester City.
However, it appears like this goalkeeper will miss up to 7 games in January. He is thought to have agreed to return to international competition and compete in the Africa Cup of Nations. Manchester United’s goalkeepers will be Tom Heaton and Altay Bayindir.
According to I News, he intends to compete in the competition, which begins on January 13 in Ivory Coast. If Onana participates in AFCON and Cameroon advances to the final, he might miss four Premier League matches, including those against Tottenham Hotspur, Wolves, West Ham United, and Aston Villa, as well as two FA Cup matches and a Carabao Cup semi-final if Manchester United advances.
Meanwhile, rumours regarding a future return continue to circulate. There have been rumours that De Gea will return to the club just a few months after being rejected by his Dutch coach.
Erik Ten Hag could potentially lose Moroccans Sofyan Amrabat, Amad Diallo, and Hannibal Mejbri to AFCON.
