Following the somewhat dismal experiences of Neymar Jr. and Lionel Messi in Paris, PSG have modified their transfer philosophy to one that focuses on signing young French talent.
France’s Randal Kolo Muani, Lucas Hernandez, and Ousmane Dembele were among the flashy summer additions, but Warren Zare-Emery appears to be the club and national team’s future.
And Liverpool midfielder Konate, a vital player for Didier Deschamps’ Les Bleus, revealed that he has dreamed of playing for the Ligue 1 giants, but highlighted that it is not one of his present objectives.
When asked if he ever saw himself playing for PSG, he said no. “If I said no, I’d be lying,” Konate told Canal+, “but if you’re asking, is it one of my objectives?” Absolutely not.”
However, Konate praised PSG’s transfer plan, claiming that it would improve squad harmony and may benefit Les Bleus.
“PSG has made sure to recruit players who understand each other well and who play together for the France national team,” the defender remarked of the Parisians’ player recruitment.
“It makes people happy, including Parisians and fans.”
“It’s what they’ve been waiting for for years, having Parisian players or at least French players in the team.”
While domestic domination has been more or less a guarantee for PSG over the last decade, the Champions League has escaped them, and the onus is on Luis Enrique to deliver this season.
Les Parisiens are second in Ligue 1 with 24 points from 11 games, one point behind league leaders Nice.
Enrique’s men, on the other hand, lead Group F in the Champions League with six points from three games.
