Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid of the Edmonton Oilers were seen chatting in a golf cart during the prestigious Zach Hyman Celebrity Classic. The left winger for the Oilers, Hyman, 31, serves as an athlete ambassador for Right To Play and First Book Canada, two organizations that support children.
On July 31, 2023, Eagles Nest Golf Club in Maple served as the event’s host. Raising money for well-known nonprofits like SickKids Foundation and UJA Federation is its primary goal.
It was Hyman’s fourth yearly occasion. Draisaitl, the star center and captain of the Oilers, was spotted looking dapper in a black and blue t-shirt and matching pants. With everything in place to make the most of the occasion, Zach Hyman was spotted alongside the well-known pair on the golf course.
Hyman Zach Celebrity Classic ensured that the elite players of the Edmonton Oilers had a memorable day by providing them with food and breakfast at no cost. In addition, they planned live performances, silent auctions, beverage carts, and cocktails, among many other things.
Connor McDavid discussed the impact of newer players like Dylan Holloway on the team. He discussed the ascent to prominence of hockey players for the Vegas Golden Knights, such as Zach Whitecloud and Nicolas Hague. In addition, McDavid made fun of Hyman’s poor golf game, saying that he was the worst NHL player despite being the program’s creator. Says Connor McDavid:
“Well, I think that the next step for every organization is, is development from within. I think you look at Vegas, you know, they develop guys like, hey, Hague and Whitecloud. And you know Howden and I guess I don’t know if he was drafted or not. But you know, the young guys.”
“You know, they develop, and obviously, even the top guys keep pushing to get better. I know that I want to be better; Leo’s pushing to get better. Everybody’s trying to be better. And that’s where the biggest jumps come from. Comes from within.”
The elite Oakdale Golf & Country Club hosted the Celebrity Golf Classic, which the Edmonton Oilers GTA group participated in. The big guys showed their unwavering support for teammate Zach Hyman by attending the event. There was Ryan McLeod, Warren Foegele, Devin Shore, and captain Connor McDavid, along with skillful defenders Darnell Nurse and Evan Bouchard. Jack Campbell, the goalie that was recently acquired, was also there for the golf outing. Together, they spent the day playing golf and participated in significant projects that help and assist those in need.Hyman’s former Toronto Maple Leafs teammates, including well-known players like Jake Muzzin and Mitch Marner, had signed on to the campaign. Distinguished Sportsnet hockey analysts Elliotte Friedman, David, and others are outside the players’ circle. Due to his Jewish heritage and belief in giving back, the Oilers star organizes the Zack Hyman Celebrity Classic in support of charitable organizations. Says he:”Learning to give back is ingrained in Jewish upbringing. That matters a great deal to me. Having roots in Toronto, you’re always looking for ways to give back.”
