Being an actor often entails extended periods away from home, confined to movie trailers and immersed in the world of film crews, producers, and creatives. The nomadic lifestyle on the road, while part of the job, can become wearisome over time—a sentiment echoed by many in the industry.
Enter Anderson Mobile Estates, an American RV company exclusively catering to clients with deep pockets, offering them a true sense of home while on the move. Synonymous with bespoke builds, opulent tastes, and extravagant interiors, Anderson Mobile Estates rose to prominence with its inaugural creation, a motorhome aptly named “The Heat.”
“The Heat” serves as Will Smith’s movie trailer and stands as the initial high-profile delivery from the company. The genesis of Anderson Mobile Estates traces back to the Anderson family’s establishment of Star Trax Celebrity Coaches in 1987. After selling the company in 1999, the family embarked on a sailing sabbatical around the world. This journey would ultimately inspire them to envision and create the most extraordinary land yachts on the planet.
Smith saw and adored The Studio, their first construction. After he customized it, he created The Heat, an enormous 22-wheel, two-story motorhome that still can outshine real mansions. When it was initially unveiled, this enormous RV was the pinnacle of style and sophistication. It feels more than a little out of date these days, so terms like “sleek” and “modern” are no longer appropriate. Regardless of whether it is owned by a celebrity or not, it is still among the most striking RVs ever made.
It is also among the priciest things in the world at $2.5 million.
The lower level of The Heat features a fully equipped kitchen with an adjoining dining room/lounge, along with a secondary lounge that doubles as a wardrobe for Will Smith when he’s on location. The primary lounge is equipped with a professional makeup station and, as evidenced by recent photos, a compact office space. The bathroom, a standout feature, boasts a $25,000 price tag and spans the entire width of the trailer. It includes a sauna shower and a separate dry toilet, complete with a glass door that turns opaque with the touch of a button.
This extraordinary motorhome is far from ordinary—all its doors are automatic, aptly referred to as Star Trek doors, complete with a sound effect upon opening and closing. In the early 2000s, the concept of Star Trek doors was deemed futuristic.
In its entirety, The Heat spans 55 feet (16.7 meters) and offers a living space of 1,200 square feet (111.5 square meters). The design concept was to provide luxuries and amenities typically found on a yacht. This includes $200,000 worth of granite countertops, $125,000 invested in tech and gadgets (including a total of 14 TVs), and $30,000 spent on real leather for the couches and even the ceilings. According to available information, The Heat doesn’t feature a dedicated bedroom.
Will Smith is well-known for living in The Heat after accepting delivery of it in the early 2000s and using it to film Ali, Men in Black III, and The Pursuit of Happyness. He is not the only A-list customer of Anderson Mobile Estates: at one time or another, mega-motorhomes of this type have been owned or used by Shakira, Mickey Rourke, Kevin Hart, Brad Pitt, Charlie Sheen, Jim Carrey, Sharon Stone, Whitney Houston, Sylvester Stallone, Jamie Foxx, and even President Bill Clinton.
