An elderly couple is driving their 18-wheeler mobile house across America.

They did their own conversion on the old commercial tractor.

The house is completely equipped, with a balcony, a movie theater, and a library.

Clayton and Teresa worked for five years to build their dream mobile home.

They now spend their days driving an 18-wheeler semi truck over the countryside.

The pair, like most nomads, desired to make a significant change in their lives.

They’re both over 65, unlike most nomads.

A few years ago they decided to sell their home and take to the road.

But they didn’t want to live in a cramped space with foldaway beds and tables.

They wanted something a little larger than your average RV.

“I figured if you’re going to go big you might as well go the biggest you can go,” Clayton says

They bought a 2004 Volvo VNL tractor with a 15-liter engine.

Next, they bought a 53ft trailer with an aluminium body.

Clayton spent five years converting the vehicle from a commercial truck to a mobile home.

Altogether, they spent $250,000 on the tractor, trailer and all the mods.

The home they refer lovingly to as the Nomad Monster is a gigantic 74ft long.

It weighs 80,000 pounds and reaches top speeds of just 50mph.

Not that they’ve got anywhere to be.

“I just like to drive,” Teresa says.

The interior was created by the couple to maximize comfort and relaxation.

The dining room chairs are vintage movie theater seats purchased at an auction.

Upstairs, there’s a library with a fireplace and a beverage station for making cups of tea.

They’ve also constructed a mini-cinema.

They watch movies and edit their YouTube videos here.

The home cinema has a robust sound system, and happily, no neighbors have filed noise complaints.

Their bedroom has a mobile bed, a walk-in closet, and bespoke ceiling tiles that add a regal touch.

Clayton has a garage in the back with tools and ‘toys’.

He has a jet ski, an electric bike, and a Honda Gold Wing 2022.

The mobile home’s roof contains 20 solar panels that power everything from the laundry area to the air fryer.

The pair may enjoy the view from the deck upstairs, which overlooks wherever they’ve parked that day.

Clayton has done all of the modifications himself and has the tools to make many more.

However, his work on the truck is complete.

“What more could you want?” he asks.
