Marcelo, a former Real Madrid defender, recently disclosed that he and Ronaldo had discussed the prospect of getting back together at Al Nassr Club.
On and off the field, Ronaldo and Marcelo had a reputation as a team while they were players for Real Madrid. They are the best partners on the field when they play, and they are close friends off it.
Numerous rumors circulated when Ronaldo left Real to join Juventus in 2018, suggesting that Marcelo would follow his teammate to Italy. In the end, though, he won his fifth Champions League championship with the team and stayed at the Bernabeu until the end of the summer of 2022.
After that, Marcelo joined Olympiacos and left for Brazil, where he returned to perform earlier this year for Fluminense. But in that period, he did get the chance to see Ronaldo again for the first time in five years.
Before Ronaldo moved to Fluminense, the former Real Madrid captain shared on Charla that he had discussed joining Al Nassr with him.
“We previously discussed it. Among the offers I had was from Al Nassr. However, I later felt that I had to return to my native Brazil. Is there anything that would have told me I had to go back home?”
Ronaldo thus had the chance to bring Marcelo back to Al Nassr, but in the end, his close friend turned him down. Still, it’s thought that the Brazilian legend made the right decision. Since he joined Fluminense, he as well as the Copa Libertadores was won by the club in early November.
In addition, Ronaldo has reconnected with Alex Telles, another former teammate, despite not being Marcelo. The Brazilian player who transferred from MU is a left-back. Both are currently working in tandem to help Al Nassr win the Saudi Pro League this year.
