Beyoncé and Zendaya in Talks for Leading Roles in Remake of “Imitation of Life”. Music sensation Beyoncé and popular actor Zendaya are reportedly in discussions to be cast as the leading pair in the remake of the classic 1959 melodrama “Imitation of Life,” directed by Douglas Sirk.

According to the Sun, the 40-year-old pop queen and the 25-year-old “Euphoria” star, who previously collaborated on Beyoncé’s music video “Be Alive” in 2016, are currently in talks to join the remake project.

“Imitation of Life,” based on the best-selling novel by Fannie Hurst, tells the story of a white woman who takes in an African-American widow and her daughter, Sarah Jane, who can pass as white due to her fair skin.

The original film received Academy Award nominations and featured Lana Turner, Juanita Moore, and Sandra Dee in prominent roles.

Sources suggest that Beyoncé, known for her chart-topping hits, is interested in producing the upcoming project. However, it remаins uncertain whether she will also appear on screen in the film.

The insider also revealed that Zendaya would likely portray the character of Sarah Jane. The source added, “Everyone wants Zendaya in their films at the moment, but it feels like this could be the movie to take her to the next level and really get some awards buzz.”
