Harvey Elliott made fun of his Serbian opponent as England’s Under-21s won 3-0 at the TSC Arena on Saturday night.
With the Young Lions leading 2-0, the Liverpool star squared up against Petar Ratkov just before halftime.
Despite being dwarfed by the 6ft 4in attacker, the 20-year-old did not flinch as the referee and teammates had to pry them apart.
Elliott also mocked Ratkov by making a sneering look, shaking his shoulders, and pointing his finger.
Liverpool fans were ecstatic to see their hot prospect getting up in the Serbian’s grill, with one exclaiming, “Spending too much time with Robertson!”
Another added, with laughing emojis, “It’s the mocking for me.”
While another stated, “I acc love Harvey.”
Elliott didn’t stop there, as the event seemed to energize him in the locker room after halftime.
With the bit between his teeth, the Liverpool star went on to score a 25-yard screamer early in the second half.
England is now 3-0 up and out of sight as they continue their outstanding form in qualifying for the Under-21 Euros.
They now have three wins from four games and are three points ahead of Serbia in second place.
Lee Carsley’s young team, however, is still three points behind Ukraine, who have won all four games so far.
England, on the other hand, has been in fine form in front of goal, scoring 17 times, including a nine-goal haul against Serbia in the reverse fixture last month.
Elliott scored twice that day, giving him three in total across both encounters.
But, following a spectacular shot from distance, his strike at the TSC Arena was the best of the bunch.
Last month, the former Fulham star captained the Young Lions in a 3-2 loss to Ukraine, in which Leeds defender Charlie Cresswell thought he had earned a point with an 89th-minute equalizer.
However, Illya Kvasnytsya scored in the 94th minute to keep Ukraine’s unblemished record intact.
