Manchester United expects goalkeeper Andre Onana to start against Everton on Sunday, as his injury is not as serious as first thought.
Erik ten Hag’s primary wish for any international break is for his players to return to Manchester unscathed.
United has already dealt with an excessive amount of injuries this season and could do without any more.
As a result of their injuries, Christian Eriksen and Rasmus Hojlund were unable to make the Denmark team for the match against Luton Town.
United are seeking to avoid any complications, but Andre Onana’s injury is causing them anxiety.
On Friday night, Onana started in goal for Cameroon in their match against Mauritius.
As expected, Cameroon cruised to a 3-0 victory; however, Onana was substituted with approximately ten minutes remaining due to an injury.
An adductor injury was the cause of the problem, according to Actu Cameroon, leaving United concerned about a possible absence.
The Mirror, however, has assuaged those concerns by stating that Onana’s injury is “less severe than initially feared.”
According to sources with close ties to Onana, the injury is not considered severe, and he was removed from the situation merely as a precaution.
Onana is expected to be available to face Everton the following weekend, but on Tuesday, all attention will be on Cameroon as they travel to face Libya.
Onana may very well participate in that game and extinguish all fears, but her absence could cause concerns to resurface.
If Onana ultimately fails to make the squad, United will be forced to rely on Altay Bayindir.
Since his summer transfer from Fenerbahce, the Turkish goalkeeper has yet to make his United debut.
Staff at United have reportedly been impressed by Bayindir’s recent progress in training and have encouraged him to make his bow as soon as possible.
Although the exact timing of that opportunity is unknown, Bayindir started on Saturday night for Turkey in their 3-2 victory over Germany.
Bayindir gained valuable playing time, and that game appeared to occur at an ideal time, given that the 25-year-old might need to be ready to go the following weekend.
