As Real Sociedad continues to expand and achieve success, one of the obstacles that Sporting Director Roberto Olabe will face is keeping his finest players. It appears like he will have some respite at Manchester United.
Robin Le Normand, a central defender for Imanol Alguacil for several years, switched allegiances this year from France to Spain. Luis de la Fuente has also made him a fixture in his backline at La Roja.
There has been conjecture in recent days that Le Normand could be one of Manchester United’s targets to shore up their center defense. Nonetheless, Fabrizio Romano told Caught Offside in his Daily Briefing that United have made no genuine attempts to sign Le Normand.
“The names under consideration are: Antonio Silva, Goncalo Inacio, [Jean-Clair] Todibo… I’m not going to identify 50 people since new people are joining the Man United board and will make decisions with the manager, so we will see many linkages but nothing solid for Le Normand and United.”
At the age of 27, Le Normand is nearing the pinnacle of his career, and he is thought to have a release clause of €50 million – a price tag that many would consider realistic for Le Normand. In the past, although without a doubt, the Txuri-Urdin would prefer not to fight for his affections and his profession if at all feasible.
