The former Real Madrid player has since fallen down the pecking order behind Erik ten Hag.
And he is apparently facing a gloomy future at Old Trafford as Saudi Arabian clubs prepare January bids.
Varane, on the other hand, appears to be taking it all in stride.
After retiring from France duty, the defender was able to take a little vacation with his wife Camille in February.
The two set off for the Musandam Peninsula, which is governed by Oman but is barely two hours north of Dubai.
Varane and Camille were able to relax at the Six Senses Zighy Bay resort, which has spectacular views of the Gulf of Oman.
Before traveling to the fancy swimming pool, the pair relaxed on the beach.
