This season, Manchester United Football Club has struggled defensively. Some of that can be due to injuries, but some of the players back there have simply been underperforming.

Our back line is suddenly getting elderly. As a result, Erik ten Hag should attempt to remedy such problems in the transfer market, notably by bringing in someone younger.

Jarrad Branthwaite steps forward.

The scoop comes via TEAMtalk. According to reports, the Reds have made the 21-year-old Premier League player their “primary defensive target.” In 2024, plans will be put in place to begin overhauling United’s defense.

TEAMtalk adds that these circumstances could change in the six months between now and next summer. With adjustments planned for the club hierarchy. Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United are both interested in Branthwaite due to his ‘excellent positioning’ and’versatility’ across the back line.

Branthwaite has previously been linked with a move to Manchester United. As a result, I’ve been keeping a close check on the young man, and I must say, he’s rather outstanding for such a young man. He plays with great poise, strength, and bravery. That is something United could use more of in their locker room.

The issue here is that Branthwaite is not cheap. Even if Everton are relegated this season, the Englishman will still cost a lot of money. We’d like to believe that by then, the Old Trafford club will have new (at least partial) owners in place, with additional financial support on the way.
