Sylvester Stallone disputes rumors that his dog is the reason behind their divorce.
After 25 years of marriage, Jennifer Flavin Stallone, the wife of the Rocky actor, filed for divorce on Wednesday. Sly is disputing a report that said the pair got into a fight about a Rottweiler he recently purchased that she didn’t want.
The actor told TMZ, the publication that first reported on the purported dog conflict, “We did not end the relationship on such a trivial argument.”
They share their time between two homes (Palm Beach, Florida and Los Angeles) and he is frequently away filming, so he acknowledged that they argued on how to care for the dog, but he stated their problems went beyond dog Dwight.
“We just went in different directions,” he remarked, expressing his admiration for Jennifer. I shall adore her forever. She is an incredible woman. I’ve never met a nicer person than her.”
The fact that Stallone just covered a massive bicep tattoo of Jennifer’s face with a tattoo of his old dog, Butkus, a bullmastiff who starred in Rocky and its sequel, is feeding speculations of dog turmoil between the couple.
The celebrity’s representative disputed that the couple was going through marital difficulties just before their divorce was made public. After images of Butkus’s face appeared on Sly’s arm where Jennifer’s had been, his spokesperson told the Daily Mail, “Mr. Stallone intended to refresh the tattoo image of his wife Jennifer; however, the results were unsatisfactory and, unfortunately, unfixable.” Mr. Stallone adores his household.”
In a statement to People, Jennifer wrote, “I’m sad to announce that after 25 years of marriage, I have filed for divorce from my husband Sylvester Stallone.” “While we will no longer be married, I will always cherish the more than 30-year relationship that we shared, and I know we are both committed to our beautiful daughters.”
In a more upbeat remark, Stallone told Yahoo Entertainment, “I cherish my family. We are settling these personal matters peacefully and in private.”
Although they maintained a positive public image, Jennifer accused The Expendables star—with whom she has three daughters—of transferring money from the marriage fund in the divorce document that TMZ was able to get. According to the filing, “There has been an unfavorable economic impact on the marital estate due to the Husband’s intentional dissipation, depletion, and/or waste of marital assets.”
