So, what has Nathan Ake, defender for Manchester City, said about Liverpool? Let us investigate.

What is the backstory?

On Saturday afternoon, Manchester City and Liverpool battled to a 1-1 tie in the Premier League.

City took the lead in the first half thanks to Erling Haaland’s goal. Trent Alexander-Arnold scored in the second half for the Reds.

After the game, City defender Nathan Ake singled out Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez, and Trent Alexander-Arnold as three Liverpool players who made life difficult for Pep Guardiola’s team.

“[For the first goal], we thought they’d counter-attack, but then we scored.” It was the same in the second half: we had an opportunity with Erling, but they scored.

Ake: Everyone wanted more

“It’s always difficult [against Liverpool] on the counter-attack.” We know Salah and Nunez will charge at you, especially as defenders. It’s always difficult because they have guys like Trent who can place passes in the correct areas.”

Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez, and Trent Alexander-Arnold are not at their best

Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez, and Trent Alexander-Arnold were not at their best against Manchester City, in my opinion.

Yes, Salah, Nunez, and Alexander-Arnold caused problems for City, but the defending Premier League champions held their own most of the game.

Salah, the Egyptian attacker, did not always appear to be in the game and did not create the goal danger that Liverpool fans expected him to.

Nunez had his moments, but he lacked confidence in front of goal and has to work on his first touch.

While England international right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold was not outstanding defensively, he was a menace at the other end, scored for Liverpool, and had a strong game overall.
