Taylor Swift’s music was briefly taken off Philadelphia’s Q102 radio station in advance of Monday’s NFL game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs. This bold decision was made in anticipation of the game. “Q102 is benching Taylor Swift from the radio station for the entire weekend because, while Q102 loves Taylor Swift and can’t get enough of her, this weekend it’s really important we show our support for the Birds,” Q102 host Nugget stated in explaining the decision, as reported by CBS News Philadelphia. On Tuesday, November 21, the station, however, started playing Swift’s songs again.
There were rumors that Swift would go to Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri, to watch the Eagles play the Chiefs, but she chose not to. Travis Kelce of the Chiefs has had some luck with the Anti-Hero hitmaker, as the club has won all of the games she has seen. When Swift was around, the NFL even jokingly acknowledged Kelce’s better on-field performance.
As she participated in the lighthearted banter during her interview on The Tamron Hall Show, Patti LaBelle—a proud native of Philadelphia—exuded confidence in the Eagles’ impending victory. Swift and her admirers were jokingly addressed by LaBelle, who joked, “Taylor and all your ‘Swifties,’ back up boo-boo.” The Chiefs are in decline. The Eagles will prevail. It’s finalized. I love you, Taylor, so please stay at home.
Swift modified a line from her song Karma to promote Travis Kelce during a recent concert stop in Buenos Aires. She sang, “Karma is the guy on the Chiefs, coming straight home to me.” The NFL player responded to the gesture with warmth as well as passionate applause from the crowd. On their podcast, Travis and his Eagles-playing brother Jason discussed the historic event and revealed that Travis knew ahead of time that Swift would acknowledge him during her performance.
When Swift’s Eras Tour stopped in Philadelphia in May, she answered fans who were guessing about the Eagles mentioned in her lyrics by saying, “I’m from Philly; of course, it’s the team.” This cleared up any question over Swift’s loyalties. The Eagles game against the Chiefs is approaching up, and supporters are getting more excited about it because of the playful banter and encouraging conversations between Swift, Kelce, and their teams.
While Swift continues to cheer the NFL player on at his Chiefs games, Kelce disclosed in a WSJ Magazine interview that the physical burden of his football career’s injuries is pushing him to consider retirement. Swift continues to support the NFL star at his Chiefs games, but Kelce revealed in an interview with WSJ Magazine that the physical strain of his career’s injuries is forcing him to think about retiring. Nevertheless, the price of the game—ten surgeries and continuous pain—has forced him to consider options outside of football. He admitted, “That’s the only thing I’ve never really been open about, The discomfort,” during the open discussion. The suffering. The residual wounds—after ten surgeries, I still experience the pain from each one of them today.”
