Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp could sign Khephren Thuram from Nice.
According to TuttoJuve, this is why Liverpool could become the favourites for Thuram.
So, what is known about Liverpool and Khephren Thuram? Let us investigate.
What is the backstory?
According to TuttoJuve, Liverpool is among the clubs interested in signing Nice’s Khephren Thuram.
Liverpool sought to sign Thuram in the summer of 2023, according to the Italian news outlet, and remain interested in the France international midfielder, who was praised as “fantastic” by Nice’s previous caretaker-manager Didier Digard on RMC Sport.
Juventus and Inter Milan are also interested in Thuram and have lately scouted him.
TuttoJuve even claims that Juventus is the frontrunner for Thuram.
According to the report, if Nice sticks to their asking price of €40-50 million (£34.74-£43.42 million), Liverpool will be the favorites.
Liverpool does not require Khephren Thuram
Liverpool, in my opinion, does not need to sign Khephren Thuram during the January transfer window or even in the summer of 2024.
If Liverpool is seeking for a holding midfielder, they should consider Kalvin Phillips, who is in his peak right now and can make an immediate impact.
Thuram is 22 years old and is still growing as a player. Yes, the Frenchman has already played over 100 league games for Nice and has a wealth of experience, but Liverpool have a plethora of talented and promising young midfielders on their books.
Midfielders such as Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis MacAllister, and Curtis Jones are all excellent. In the summer of 2023, Liverpool also signed Ryan Gravenberch. Trent Alexander-Arnold is also now playing in midfield.
Of course, every squad may be improved, but I doubt Liverpool would be significantly better with Thuram in their lineup.
