After all, she grew up telling her mother, bodybuilding champion Gladys Portugues, and father, Jean-Claude Van Damme, a.k.a. “the Muscles from Brussels,” that she “hated” martial arts.

With martial arts action films like “Bloodsport,” “Kickboxer,” and “Street Fighter,” Jean-Claude made a nаme for himself in popular culture and gave Bianca and her now 28-year-old brother Kristopher a comfortable life.
“My parents gave us the freedom to pursue our own interests. My parents pushed me into martial arts when I was younger in order to teach me self-discipline. I was like, ‘I can’t tolerate it,'” Bianca said of her age seven. “I continued to pursue ballet and ice skating.”
