A 30-man shortlist has been announced for the 2023 Globe Soccer Awards’ Best Men’s Player award, which includes both Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
After Luka Modric, who is 38, Messi, who is 36, is the third-oldest player nominated, and Ronaldo, who is 38, is the oldest.
Messi took home the trophy in 2005, but Ronaldo, the first player to win it six times, is the only other recipient.
The three most recent winners of the award since Ronaldo’s win in 2019 are Robert Lewandowski, Kylian Mbappe, and Karim Benzema. This year, they are all nominated once more.
It is improbable that Ronaldo will win Men’s Player of the Year a seventh time.
The captain of Al Nassr, nevertheless, is the clear favorite to take home a new trophy.
Twelve players are vying for the title of first-ever Best Middle East Player, including Ronaldo. Benzema, Salem Al-Dawsari, Mourad Batna, Mohamed El Shenawy, Abderrazak Hamdallah, Odion Ighalo, Ali Mabkhout, Riyad Mahrez, Michael Olunga, Alejandro Romero, and Talisca are the other eleven players competing for this award.
