Taylor Swift was recently selected Time’s Person of the Year for 2023, and Elon Musk has humorously cautioned her that her fame may wane.
Musk complimented pop singer Swift on her achievement and then issued a warning in response to her December 6 post on X announcing her win.
“Some risk of popularity decline after this award,” Musk wrote. “I speak from experience lol.”
According to a Time magazine announcement at the time, the founder of SpaceX was named Time’s Person of the Year in 2021 for his impact “on life on Earth, and potentially life off Earth too.”
Elon Musk has come under fire since he acquired Twitter in April 2022 and rebranded it as X. This is especially because big businesses like Apple, Disney, and Paramount have pulled their advertisements from the platform because of concerns about anti-Semitic content.
In response to worries over anti-Semitism, Musk heightened tensions last month by threatening to file a “thermonuclear lawsuit” against media watchdog Media Matters.
The winner of Time magazine’s Person of the Year award is the person who, for better or worse, has had the biggest influence on headlines during the previous 12 months.
Swift debuted to widespread praise on her career-spanning “Eras Tour” this year. October saw the global release of a concert film, which went on to become the highest-grossing concert film ever.
The tour is scheduled to arrive in Europe in 2024, including a run of shows in August at London’s Wembley Stadium. In Canada, it is expected to end on December 8.
This year, the singer also put out two rerecorded albums, “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)” and “1989 (Taylor’s Version).”
