Hollywood action stars Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger have discussed an old competition that sparked intense rivalry and even animosity between the two. According to Stallone, their animosity was ingrained in their DNA.
The stars of “Terminator” and “Rocky” are good friends now, but in the 1980s, when they were delivering their most famous action movies, like “Predator” and “Rambo,” they were extremely antagonistic toward one another, insulting each other personally and taking pot shots at one another in press conferences.

All of that, however, came to an end in the late 1990s when the two action stars, who were both part of the Planet Hollywood restaurant chain, discovered that they had to go to different openings together.
This ultimately brought the two closer together, and before long, their animosity vanished and they grew good friends who went on to work together on a number of projects, including “The Expendables.”
The “True Lies” actor stated, “We were movie rivals, but we took the competitiveness to the extreme – we each had to have the best body, we had to kill more people in our films, and we had to have the biggest guns,” during an appearance on “The Graham Norton Show.” We attempted to derail each other when it got out of control, according to Deadline.
They were sitting at the same table at the 1977 Golden Globes, which is where this animosity began. Schwarzenegger took home the New Star award, while Stallone was a loser in five of the six categories in which he was nominated.
When “Rocky” finally won the Best Motion Picture – Drama Oscar, Stallone allegedly threw a bowl of flowers at Schwarzenegger because he laughed at his defeats.
Following that, the two would frequently snipe at one another in tense press conferences. Bigger firearms, more bullets, and an overall attempt to outmaneuver the other mana in their roles would be their actions.
Then, when he claimed that Stallone had employed body doubles in several of his films, Schwarzenegger touched a raw nerve with his opponent. Because of this, a lot of people assumed that Ivan Drago, the character from 1985’s “Rocky IV,” was a veiled jab at Arnold Schwarzenegger because of his tall stature, muscular build, and foreign European accent.
That changed after the two bonded on Planet Hollywood, and they started a string of buddy films. Schwarzenegger starred in Stallone’s 2013 action thriller “Escape Plan” and even made a complimentary guest appearance in the first installment of the “Expendables” franchise. “We have become inseparable, and he is a great human being,” Schwarzenegger remarked.
Stallone complimented Schwarzenegger further in a June interview, saying, “He just had all the answers.” The body was with him. He was strong enough. That was the nature of him.
