Li Bingbing shares about filming “The Meg” with Jason Statham and China-Hollywood cooperation

Li Bаng Bаng shared her experience of starring in “The Meg” alongside Jason Statham, as well as the collaboration between China and Hollywood.

When they first approached me about “The Meg” in 2015, I didn’t think much about it and said no. Because it was a shark movie, I knew there would be many underwater scenes, and I didn’t want to do that. In Chinese culture, we believe that coldness is harmful to health – we always drink hоt water and eat hоt food. So I said no, I didn’t want to spend too much time in the tank and in the cold sea. However, they kept messaging me and sending me information about the film, the role, and the collaboration between Hollywood and China. Gradually, I began to understand that this wasn’t just an ordinary shark movie, but it could be an opportunity for me to showcase my acting abilities on the international stage.

After reading the script and grasping the director Jon Turteltaub’s vision, I realized that “The Meg” was not just an action-packed entertainment film, but it also had a deeper story and a significant cultural collaboration. It was a chance to bridge the gap between Chinese and Hollywood cinema and showcase the talent and creativity from both sides.

Being able to work alongside Jason Statham was also an exciting opportunity. He is a talented actor with a strong presence in action films, and I knew that our collaboration would bring a unique dynamic to the film. Together, we could create tҺrilling and engaging scenes that would captivate audiences worldwide.
