Striker Julian Alvarez, a key player for Manchester City, may be transferred if the Champions League-winning team receives an £80 million offer.
Known as one of the top strikers in the current era, Alvarez achieved world championship success with Argentina in Qatar in 2022. Manchester City acquired the former River Plate star for approximately £15 million during the January 2022 transfer window.
In the previous season, Alvarez played a supporting role to Erling Haaland during Man City’s historic treble-winning campaign. Despite not starting many of the 49 games he participated in, he scored 17 goals. This season, in 15 appearances (12 starts), Alvarez has notably contributed with 7 goals and 5 assists.
Spanish football giants Barcelona and Real Madrid are actively pursuing Alvarez, witnessing his growing maturity at Etihad Stadium. Surprisingly, Manchester City is reportedly open to letting go of Alvarez if they receive a transfer fee of £80 million, a significant increase from the amount paid more than a year ago.
Raheem Sterling, who left Etihad Stadium for Chelsea in 2022 for £47.5 million, currently holds the record for the highest-selling Man City player.
To reinforce their squad, the Champions League-winning team is considering pursuing Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala. The 20-year-old German player is under contract with Bayern Munich until June 2026. If Alvarez departs, Manchester City aims to secure the services of Musiala.
