Rihanna and A$AP Rocky may have outgrown their three-bedroom, 3,500-square-foot penthouse in a posh Los Angeles building. They are expecting their second child.
The nine-time Grammy winner appears to have found a solution by moving to a penthouse on the 40th floor of the same building. This modern tower was designed by Robert A.M. Stern, a notable architect and member of the AD100 Hall of Fame. Rihanna has lived in this building since 2014.
The Century City property she paid $21 million for is nearly double the size of her previous one, measuring 9,290 square feet with four bedrooms and 6.5 bathrooms.
Before Friends actor Matthew Perry sold the sprawling mansion for $35 million in 2019, designer LM Pagano and architect Scott Joyce restored it. Afterpay co-founder Nick Molnar spent $21.6 million for the penthouse in 2021, and he sold it the following year for just under $28 million.
Rihanna appears to have used Los Angeles’ forthcoming “mansion tax” as leverage when negotiating the transaction, which was completed just before the levy went into effect.
From its several rows of windows and four terraces, one on each side of the building, the penthouse provides breathtaking views of the city skyline. The master suite is also spacious, with two bathrooms, plenty of storage, and a separate sitting area with a fireplace. A soundproof theatre with layers of seating is also available.
In addition to the penthouse, the “Work” singer is responsible for two nearby Beverly Hills houses.
