In the League Cup quarter-final against West Ham at Anfield, Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp fielded a somewhat patchwork squad with many substitutes. However, the home team easily controlled the game, scoring after only 28 minutes thanks to Szoboszlai’s beautiful long-range shot.

Liverpool completely dominated West Ham in the final minutes, scoring a goal to break the deadlock. However, the first half ended with only one goal due to a series of missed opportunities by Darwin Nunez.

It wasn’t until after the break that the Uruguayan striker redeemed himself, assisting Jones to make it 2-0. West Ham could only stand up to the home team’s overwhelming attacks at this point.

Coach Jurgen Klopp even sent on Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Luis Diaz, further exacerbating the lopsided nature of the game. Indeed, the “Red Brigade” controlled the ball 67% of the time, launched 29 shots, 11 of which were on target, compared to West Ham’s total of two shots.

As a result of Gakpo, Salah, and Jones, Liverpool scored three more goals, while Jarrod Bowen assisted “Sledgehammer” with an honourable goal in the 77th minute. Liverpool eventually defeated West Ham by a score of 5-1.

This is a great way for Liverpool to gain momentum before hosting Arsenal in round 18 of the Premier League on December 24. This match is important because they are one point behind the “Gunners” in the standings.

The League Cup semi-finals have been drawn.
