ο»ΏArsenal midfielder Thomas Partey to miss Africa Cup of Nations, providing a boost for the Gunners
Ghana has excluded Thomas Partey from their squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations in Cote D’Ivoire. The decision comes as the midfielder is currently recovering from an ΞΉnjury and will remain in North London to continue his rehabilitation.
This news is a positive development for Arsenal, as they will have Partey available during January and February, which coincides with the duration of the AFCON 2023 tournament.
Partey, who joined Arsenal from Atletico Madrid, has faced several ΞΉnjury setbacks in recent months, impacting the team’s performances. The Gunners suffered consecutive Premier League defeats against West Ham United and Fulham, highlighting their lack of midfield options.
While Takehiro Tomiyasu returned to action, his presence in midfield couldn’t make a significant impact. Having Partey available would have made a substantial difference, given his versatility, experience, and quality.
The 30-year-old Ghanaian hasn’t played for Arsenal since their league victory over Manchester City in October, missing the last 17 games across all competitions. He picked up a thigh ΞΉnjury during training in November and underwent a specialist procedure for treatment.
Arsenal’s upcoming fixtures include an FA Cup match against Liverpool on January 7, followed by a Premier League clΠ°sh against Crystal Palace on January 20. It is anticipated that Partey could be available for the game against Crystal Palace, providing a boost to the team.
