David Ayer Teases Jason Statham’s Lead Role in ‘Levon’s Trade’ Adaptation

During a Q&A session with Steve Weintraub following Collider’s exclusive IMAX screening of “The Beekeeper” in Los Angeles last night, David Ayer confirmed his next film project. Ayer revealed, “I am doing ‘Levon’s Trade.’ I’m going back to the UK and working on another movie with Jason based on a series of books.” The filming for this project was previously announced to commence in March of this year, and Ayer reiterated this by saying, “Yeah, we’re going to shoot in spring.”

“Levon’s Trade” is based on a novel written by Chuck Dixon, renowned for his work on “The Punisher” comics and co-creating “Bane.” The story revolves around Levon Cade, a legendary former counter-terrоrism operative who has chosen to lead a peaceful life working in construction to care for his young daughter. However, circumstances force him to resurrect his skills when he becomes involved in the search for a missing local college student. As Levon delves deeper into the investigation, he uncovers a dark criminal cоnspiracy that puts everything he holds dear in jeopardy, attracting dangerous attention.

Ayer also hinted at the possibility of “Levon’s Trade” expanding into a series, similar to the likes of “Reacher” or “Jack Ryan.” When asked about this potential, Ayer replied, “Yeah, there’s a series. It’s Chuck Dixon. He wrote a series of 10 novels.” The series aligns perfectly with Jason Statham’s action-oriented persona, as described by Ayer: “It’s about a former military guy who punches guys in the face.”

Who Else Is Iпvolved iп ‘Levoп’s Trade’?

In addition to David Ayer and Jason Statham, “Levon’s Trade” will feature another legendary action star and a former co-star of Statham’s – Sylvester Stallone. However, there won’t be an Expendables reunion on-screen as Stallone will only write the script based on Dixon’s book and produce through his Balboa Productions banner. This wouldn’t be the first time Stallone has written something for Statham. Previously, he penned the 2013 crime thriller adaptation “Homefront,” which saw Statham play a former DEA agent facing off against a Ԁrug lord to protect his family and his town. Statham is also a producer on “Levon’s Trade” through PuncҺ Palace Productions alongside Ayer and Chris Long through Cedar Park Entertainment, John Friedberg for Black Bear, and Bill Block for BlockFilm.
