The Navy vet was overwhelmed after learning that Dwayne Johnson gave him his personal truck

Dwayne Johnson is talking candidly about giving back.

The 49-year-old actor talked further on Thanksgiving about the touching occasion when he gifted Oscar Rodriguez, a former member of the US Navy, his own customized pickup truck.

Rodriguez was “collapsed to the ground as he read a card I wrote to him that said, ‘Thank you for your service, brother and enjoy your new truck,'” Johnson posted a message on Thursday on Instagram.

“I should be giving him my own truck on Thanksgiving, but he deserves so much more. “I always say that being important is nice, but being nice is more important,” he remarked. “And Oscar, exemplifies being nice and kind to his core.”Dwayne Johnson Instagram

The actor had previously stated that he intended to perform “something BIG… something MASSIVE… something unforgettable” in addition to showing his new Netflix film Red Notice to fans.

Johnson was inspired by this and his initial thought was to give away the Porsche Taycan that he drives in the film. We thus contacted Porsche, but they declined. Still, I answered “yes” I’ll perform one better. I’ll give the present be my own customized truck. My darling child .”

After learning more about each person in the special screening’s audience, the Jungle Cruise actor claimed that Rodriguez’s story had touched him the most. Johnson claimed he knew Rodriguez was the person he wanted to give his sleek black pickup to. “He got up off the ground and launched into giving me the biggest heartfelt hug once he gathered himself and stopped hyperventilating,” recalled Johnson. “Then we FaceTimed his girlfriend … to let her know he’s picking her up in a new whip.”

The Jumanji actor remarked, “It’s the little things like this, that I get the greatest joy out of,” in response to his new friend’s shock to the revelation. Most significantly, though, is that I can use my worldwide platform to highlight kind, decent, appreciative people like Oscar.”
