Nineteen-Year-Old James McConnell Commits Future to Liverpool with Long-Term Contract Extension.
Liverpool Football Club announced that talented young player James McConnell has signed a new long-term contract with the club. The contract was finalized at the AXA Training Centre on Friday. McConnell, who joined Liverpool at the U15 level from Sunderland, has already made three senior appearances.
Having impressed during pre-season ahead of the 2023-24 season, McConnell made his competitive debut in October, coming off the bench during the Europa League victory over Toulouse at Anfield. He then made his Premier League debut as a substitute against Brentford the following month, and also featured in another European match when Liverpool played Union SG in December.
Recently, McConnell was included in the matchday squad for the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final against Fulham. Additionally, he has been a part of Barry Lewtas’ U21 team this season.
Originally from Morpeth, McConnell signed his first professional contract with Liverpool in September 2021. His commitment to the club demonstrates his bright future and the trust placed in him by the Liverpool management.
