Liverpool delivered a dominant performance, securing a convincing 5-2 victory over Norwich in the FA Cup to advance to the fifth round. Despite the news of Jurgen Klopp’s impending departure, the team remained focused and took control of the game from the start. Young talents James McConnell and Curtis Jones shone, with McConnell’s pinpoint pass setting up Jones for Liverpool’s opening goal. Norwich quickly equalized, but Liverpool swiftly regained the lead through Conor Bradley’s impressive run and Darwin Nunez’s clinical finish. In the second half, Diogo Jota extended Liverpool’s advantage with a powerful strike, while substitutes Dominik Szoboszlai and Virgil van Dijk combined for a well-taken fourth goal. Although Norwich pulled another goal back, Ryan Gravenberch sealed Liverpool’s victory with a late fifth goal. The match showcased Liverpool’s strength, depth, and determination to succeed amidst the upcoming managerial transition.
Midfield
James McConnell (7/10): An excellent ball into the Norwich area that set up the first goal.
Ryan Gravenberch (7/10): Should have protected the post better for Norwich’s equaliser and was a little unfortunate upfield despite his efforts until he diverted in from close range late on.
Curtis Jones (8/10): Created lots of space in a dangerous location before brilliantly heading in the first goal. Unbelievable pass to set up Jota.
Attаck
Diogo Jota (8/10) had an active role in the аttаck, creating numerous opportunities and scoring a goal early in the second half.
Darwin Nunez (8/10): A major threаt throughout and, predictably, regained his team’s lead with a strong finish.
Cody Gakpo (6/10) missed a wonderful opportunity to make it 3-1. He made numerous attempts but was unable to finish.
Subs and Manager:
Virgil van Dijk (7/10). I found plenty of room and read Szoboszlai’s corner perfectly before going in.
Andy Robertson (6/10): Returns to the field for the first time since October.
Dominik Szoboszlai (7/10) set up Nunez for a chance and delivered a devastating corner to Van Dijk.
Trent Alexander-Arnold (6/10) had an impact in the final 25 minutes following a brief absence from the game.
Luis Diaz (6/10) played over 10 minutes but had limited impact on the game.
Jurgen Klopp 8/10:
He may have few complaints about his team’s reaction to his stunning statement just days before. They were well-prepared and geared up for a relentless performance.
Goalkeeper and Defence
Alisson (5/10): Couldn’t do much to prevent either Norwich goal, but will be disappointed to have been defeated from distance by Sainz.
Conor Bradley (8/10): Excellent performance with two assists! Won the ball, ran, and set up Nunez for the finish. Teed up Gakpo shortly after, but his effort went wide before lashing across goal for Gravenberch to score.
Ibrahima Konate (7/10): As usual, he is solid at the back, making good tackles and flying high.
Jarell Quansah (6/10): Another easy performance, but his clumsy header set up Norwich’s second goal.
Joe Gomez (6/10): Provided оffensive support while also defending on the left flank with alertness and intelligence.
