Saka boost and Jesus’ ιnjury Concern: Four Observations from Arsenal Training ahead of West Ham Clаsh

Prior to their Premier League matchup with West Ham on Sunday at the London Stadium, Arsenal will have had an additional week of practice on the training fields. The Gunners have defeated championship rivals Liverpool 3-1 most recently, making it three wins in a row. They will now travel to Portugal to play FC Porto in the round of 16 of the Champions League after two away games against the Hammers and Burnley, respectively.

‘Hopeful’ to welcome back a few players for the game, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta stated in his pre-match press conference.

“A handful of them are still in the running; they’ve been progressing quite nicely. We’re having another training session tomorrow [Saturday]. We’re hoping to have a few players return and field a fiercely competitive team’, Arteta stated on Friday.

Saka boost

Releasing Bukayo Saka earlier this week gave Arteta a significant boost. The England international was carted off the pitch last week after colliding with Darwin Nunez of Liverpool.

He was observed working out in the gym with Jorginho, Mohamed Elneny, and Leandro Trossard before going to the training field with his colleagues, suggesting that he was taken off as a precaution.

Quartet not present

Thomas Partey, Gabriel Jesus, Oleksandr Zinchenko, and Takehiro Tomiyasu—who had just returned from a Japan-wide assignment—were nowhere to be found.

In addition, the Gunners manager acknowledged that it is “too soon” to predict when Partey will resume playing after recovering from a thigh issue. There has been no update regarding Jesus.

After it was discovered that he had been playing with fluid in his knee against Nottingham Forest, he was not present against Liverpool.

Ethаn Nwаneri, аn аcаdemy plаyer, is 16 yeаrs оld, аnd his аppeаrаnce during trаining this week wаs unexpecteԀ. Fоllоwing his seniоr debut in September 2022, he hоpes tо mаke his first аppeаrаnce оf the seаsоn.

As of right now, he’s only been mentioned on the bench during the December 2-0 loss to West Ham.

Not one Ramsdale

The goalkeeper’s minimal playing time for the Gunners this season prevented him from being seen in the training photos. His final league game took place at the Gtech Community Stadium in November, when Arsenal defeated Brentford 1-0.

He might have played more minutes if the Gunners hadn’t lost both the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup.
