Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez Face Uncertainty for Luton Match

Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez are facing significant ιnjury concerns ahead of their Premier League match against Luton Town. Manager Jurgen Klopp stated that both players will be evaluated on a day-by-day basis as Liverpool prepares for the Carabao Cup final against Chelsea on Sunday. Nunez, 24, was substituted at halftime during the team’s 4-1 victory over Brentford due to muscle tightness. Salah, 31, is dealing with fatigue after returning from a hamstring ιnjury and delivering a goal and an assist in the previous match. Klopp mentioned that the club is monitoring Salah’s condition closely.

Regarding Nunez, Klopp clarified that his halftime substitution was a precautionary measure. The team didn’t want to rιsk further ιnjury by allowing him to continue playing. They will assess his situation day by day since he experienced discomfort during the match.

Klopp emphasized the competitive nature of the Premier League and the need to treat every game as a final. Given the current circumstances, Liverpool must utilize the available players in the best possible way. If Salah is fully fit, there is no reason to keep him out of the lineup.

Liverpool will also be without Trent Alexander-Arnold, Diogo Jota, Curtis Jones, and Alisson for the upcoming matches against Luton and Chelsea. Jones sustained an ιnjury in the Brentford game, Alexander-Arnold aggravated a knee ιnjury, and Alisson suffered a hamstring ιnjury during training. Klopp confirmed that Jota will be sidelined for “months” due to a left knee ιnjury sustained against Brentford.

The potential additions of Salah and Nunez to Liverpool’s extensive ιnjury list would further deplete Klopp’s squad. With only Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo available among the forwards, Harvey Elliott may be deployed on the right side of the front three. Youngsters such as Kaide Gordon, Lewis Koumas, and Jayden Danns could also be considered as potential substitutes.
