DJ Khaled gives his ideas and tips on how to dress for the Oscars red carpet, giving us the keys to flawless red carpet attire

DJ Khaled looked sharp in his suit at the Oscars last night. The polished music mogul put it succinctly: “If you want me to be honest, [the suit] makes me see what everyone else sees: icon,” says Khaled. Dolce & Gabbana and Terrell Jones, Khaled’s 17-year-old fashion creative director, collaborated on the ensemble. Of course, becoming an icon isn’t easy. Approximately seven Milanese tailors were present to ensure that the suit suited Khaled perfectly. “There is a lot of greatness you’re working with,” he went on to say. “Even my belly had a little…they adjusted to my greatness!” Jones goes on to say, “The creative process was amazing; it consisted of everything from fabric selections, custom design work, and master tailors flown all the way in from Italy to make sure the process was seamless and done to perfection.”

Suit or no suit, this isn’t a true Khaled look without something sparkly. He wore a massive, diamond-encrusted $3 million timepiece from the renowned jeweller Jacob & Co, as well as a brilliant pinky ring the size of a small planet. “Suit from Milan, chandelier on the wrist—focused,” Khaled says with a laugh.

Khaled has a long history of being a fashion enthusiast. However, he does not dress formally or ostentatiously. Khaled, on the other hand, enjoys his appearance and pays close attention to its details. (He pays close attention to detail even in his home, as evidenced by the Dolce & Gabbana Casa cushions and rugs he used before to the Oscars.) In recent years, we’ve seen him in a range of vivid camp shirts with eye-catching patterns, robin’s egg blue Jordan trainers, and a shiny leather top. He is the ultimate of sartorial elegance, which wonderfully matches his exuberant persona, and he completely agrees. “The best style advice: always be you, be yourself not just in style but in life always be you,” Khaled said. “That is the key to everything because yourself is the greatest person.”
