Johnny Depp takes to Instagram to send a heartfelt message to Robert Downey Jr. as he celebrates his inaugural Oscar victory.

Johnny Depp rejoices in Robert Downey Jr.’s triumph at the 96th Academy Awards. Downey secured his first-ever Oscar at the event, prompting Depp to share a pair of photos featuring the two of them from the 2011 Golden Globe Awards.

In an Instagram post, Depp captions the pictures with, “Let’s give it another shot… congratulations to my dear friend.” Although they have never appeared in a film together, the two actors have crossed paths in various industry circles.

Downey’s win for Best Supporting Actor earned for his performance in Oppenheimer marks his third Oscar nomination. He previously received a nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the 2008 comedy Tropic Thunder and a Best Actor nomination in 1993 for his portrayal of movie legend Charlie Chaplin in the 1992 film Chaplin.

During his acceptance speech at the Oscars, Downey humorously remarked in a light-hearted tone, “I’d like to express my gratitude to my challenging childhood and then to the Academy, in that particular order.” He continued by thanking his wife, Susan Downey, jokingly referring to her as his veterinarian before correcting himself, for finding and loving him like a rescue pet, bringing him back to life, and enabling him to be present at that moment.

He mentioned names like Emily, Cillian, and Matt Damon, expressing his gratitude for the fantastic experience and how it contributed to his personal growth. Downey concluded by affirming that he stands before the audience as a better person because of it.
