Olivia Rodrigo Being a Part of Protect Reproductive Rights Campaign

Fans attending Olivia Rodrigo’s Guts tour were pleasantly surprised to find a table near the women’s bathrooms offering free emergency contraception and condoms. The initiative was part of Rodrigo’s Fund 4 Good campaign, which aims to protect reproductive rights for women and girls.

The campaign partners with the National Network of Abortion Funds, connecting with local chapters at tour stops. The activists at the table were from organizations like Right by You and the Missouri Abortion Fund, providing resources and support for abortion care and contraception. Concertgoers were initially skeptical about receiving the free emergency contraception, which typically retails for up to $50.

The gesture was met with gratitude and highlighted the importance of artists using their platforms to support social causes. In a time when softcore activism can feel insincere, initiatives like Rodrigo’s provide tangible support and education. The event allowed attendees to learn about local organizations and resources for reproductive care, creating lasting connections and support within their communities.

The distribution of emergency contraception from the startup Julie aimed to remove the stigma and shame associated with it, emphasizing access, exploration, and education. The effort was praised by reproductive rights advocates for centering local organizations and providing sustained support beyond the concert. The issue of reproductive rights is particularly relevant in Missouri, where abortion is illegal, and activists have faced challenges in bringing the issue to the ballot.

The campaign resonated with fans, including Madelyn Ritter, an emergency women’s health nurse, who expressed her support for Rodrigo’s values and commitment to women’s healthcare.
