The midfielder’s outstanding performance at Anfield played a crucial role in Liverpool’s 2-1 victory over Brighton. It was his well-executed pass that led to Mohamed Salah scoring the winning goal for the Reds. Liverpool knew they couldn’t afford any mistakes as they continued their pursuit of the Premier League title. Despite falling behind early in the match, the team displayed resilience and quality to secure the win. Danny Welbeck’s early strike gave Brighton the lead, but Liverpool quickly responded with a close-range volley from Luis Diaz.
During the first half, Mohamed Salah had several opportunities to put Liverpool in front, but it wasn’t until the second half that he found his scoring touch. With a magnificent pass from Alexis Mac Allister, Salah curled a low shot into the bottom corner to give Liverpool the lead.
Brighton pushed for an equalizer, but Jurgen Klopp’s side held firm and maintained their position at the top of the Premier League table, at least temporarily.
Alexis Macallister (9/10):
Outstanding. Created numerous chances with brilliant through-balls and controlled the tempo of Liverpool’s assaults. Booked early, but that didn’t stop him from executing his defensive task very well.
Mohamed Salah (7/10):
Looked like he had left his shooting boots at home before he finally fired past Verbruggen midway through the second half. Not his best performance, but still the match-winner.
Darwin Nunez (6/10):
Struggled to link up with team-mates in the first half, but ran the channels well after the break and sparked a couple of dangerous counter-attacks.
Luis Diaz (7/10):
Fine volleyed finish got the Reds back into the game, and but Veltman under all sorts of pressure with his direct dribbling. Unlucky to have a second goal ruled out for a tight offside.
Wataru Endo (7/10):
Another superb performance from the Japanese international, who swept up in front of the defence and attempted to get the hosts moving forward.
Dominik Szoboszlai 7/10:
Was quiet throughout the first half, but improved dramatically after halftime. He contributed to Salah’s goal and pressed hard in a lively performance.
Caoimhin Kelleher (6/10)
Couldn’t do much about Welbeck’s magnificent strike, and had little more to do until he palmed away Dunk’s looping header late on. He feels good about his distribution.
Conor Bradley (6/10)
Showed a lot of energy and helped create оffensive overloads on the right side. He found himself out of position at times, but he made a handful of important defensive plays.
Jarell Quansah (6/10):
Brighton obviously targeted the rookie center-back, and Adingra’s pace caused him numerous issues. He did, however, progress during the game and maintained his composure.
Virgil van Dijk (7/10):
Took it upon himself to physically lead from the front, and was frequently seen pressing high in Brighton’s half. Throughout, the construction is consistently strong.
Joe Gomez (6/10):
Had a few uncomfortable moments in possession, but recovered well when necessary.
