According to Corriere Dello Sport, Samuel Eto’o, a former Chelsea and Everton striker, has reportedly committed a large quantity of money to purchase an Italian property.
Eto’o apparently bought the £18.5 million home in Italy despite neighbors’ warnings about the “Tutankhamun curse.”
The Cameroonian footballer is rumored to have acquired Villa Altachiara, a historic house in Portofino, northern Italy, near Genoa.
The villa was once owned by Lord Carnarvon, a nobleman known for his involvement in the supposed ‘Curse of the Pharaoh.’
Villa Altachiara’s history began on February 16, 1923, when Lord Carnarvon and the famed English archaeologist Howard Carter famously approached the reputed ‘cursed’ burial place of the ancient Egyptian pharaoh Tutankhamun and uncovered his tomb.
It is worth noting that eight of the 58 people who attended the unveiling of Tutankhamun’s long-lost mausoleum died within a twelve-year period.
Despite the purported curse surrounding the property’s history, Eto’o reportedly purchased Villa Altachiara, adding another chapter to the famous Italian estate’s illustrious past.
