Drake buys nature-inspired mansion worth $65 million for his cherished grandchild

The newest resident of Beverly Hills’ Trousdale Estates, pop singer Aubrey “Drake” Graham, has the entire neighbourhood in a frenzy. Drake, who has lived in the Hidden Hills gated community an hour northwest of downtown Los Angeles for the past ten years, looks to be temporarily renting in the 90210. Could there be an impending permanent relocation? Why shouldn’t Drake do it after The Weeknd did it?

The native Canadian is well-known for his obsession with lavish mansions. According to accounts, his Toronto mansion is 50,000 square feet, while his Hidden Hills estate consists of three connected houses. SAOTA, a world-renowned architectural firm, created the equally luxurious Beverly Hills rental home on spec this year. The dining room, a semi-subterranean patio, and a 20-foot stone cascade all flow around a 15-foot-tall olive tree brought from Italy and installed by a 15-person crew using a crane. The waterfall flows from an exterior moat.

All of this drɑma is really expensive. Because the finishes and design use natural elements, such as the centrepiece olive tree and waterfall, the house was marketed as a “natural” home. The home, named “Elementi,” is no longer for sale, making it unclear how much Drake pays to stay there.

The half-acre property, set on a prominent Trousdale hill, was previously sold for $15 million, according to public records from 2014. Luxford Investment Group, a high-end development company led by real estate agent Michael Chen, built the current residence on spec for the home’s owner, an LLC affiliated with wealthy Chinese film producer and art collector Wɑng Zhongjun.

Drake’s Instagram photos and “stories” from the modern castle demonstrate that he is content with his new surroundings. The 18,000-square-foot mansion features a separate “catering” kitchen with Viking equipment, a sinuously curved spiral staircase, a movie theatre, custom Minotti furniture, and an all-custom kitchen with high-end Gaggenau appliances and a marble island.

The private owner’s apartment contains a store-sized closet/dressing area, two bathrooms built of unusual marble species, and a 400-square-foot private terrace with a jacuzzi that appears to be suspended above the slope beneath it.
