Selena Gomez took a protective stance as she accompanied her six-year-old sister Gracie Teefey for her red carpet debut at last month’s Frozen 2 premiere.
During an appearance on the BBC Radio 1 show Sounds, the 27-year-old singer shared her pre-red carpet ritual with Gracie, saying, “I bent down and looked at her before we stepped on. I said, ‘If you get nervous, if you get overwhelmed, just pull my hand and I’ll take you off immediately.'” Recalling Gracie’s response, Selena added, “And she’s like, ‘Okay.’ And she just walked straight onto the carpet and had her full moment with the feathers.”
Selena fondly recounted the moment, saying, “And I’m standing there, like, ‘Gracie, include me in the picture too!’ She was just enjoying herself.” She expressed to host Nick Grimshaw, known as ‘Grimmy’ to fans, that taking Gracie to the red carpet was “honestly the coolest feeling.”
Describing the event further, Selena said, “I told her, ‘This is my favorite carpet I have ever done,’ because she’s never done any of them and we didn’t force her to do that.” She also mentioned Gracie’s newfound love for glamour, saying, “It’s all about the dresses and the glitter now.”
Selena, who is known for her past relationship with Justin Bieber, remarked on the UK radio show, “Oh, she had the best time. It was like Disneyland.” Despite not being part of the Frozen movies, Selena and Gracie arrived at the premiere dressed in matching themed costumes.
The premiere took place at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, renowned as the venue for the Academy Awards. Disney’s Frozen film series has been immensely successful, expanding to include a Broadway musical that premiered at the St. James Theatre last year.
