She is from Seoul, South Korea, and she’s a young tattoo artist with more than 200,000 Instagram followers. Her tattoos of mythological animals have a delicate, ethereal quality.

Today I got the chance to chat with her about her life, work, style, and how to choose a good tattoo artist. Join us as we delve into the story of a courageous young woman who refused to conform and instead forged her own path in the art world.

Talking to Tattoo Artist Ehyang About Starting OutAt the outset of her narrative, Ehyang faced numerous obstacles in her role as a designer. Only the requirements of the business dictated the designs she was making. For someone with a deep appreciation for the arts, the restriction quickly became unbearable.

The only design the company asked me to finish was this one. Becoming a tattoo artist allowed me to pursue my passions more freely rather than following orders.

Because tattooing was her life’s work and she sought a creative outlet, she went for it. But in Seoul’s flourishing tattoo industry, Ehyang discovered herself encircled by a multitude of talented artists. In order to stand out, she knew she had to create her own unique style.
