To celebrate the arrival of a new family member, Rihanna has splurged on a lavish penthouse in Century City, securing one of the most extravagant residences available. Since 2014, Rihanna has called The Century—one of Los Angeles’ most elite and expensive residential buildings—her home. However, with a growing family, including a new baby and another on the way, as well as her staff and entourage, her three-bedroom, 3,500 square-foot residence was becoming a bit cramped.
To address this issue, the Barbadian superstar invested $21 million in a sprawling penthouse that occupies the entire 40th floor of The Century. This expansive unit, boasting over 9,000 square feet of living space, features numerous custom designs and offers stunning views of the city. The penthouse was previously owned by Nick Molnar, the billionaire co-founder of Afterpay, who initially listed it for $28 million. Rihanna successfully negotiated a significant discount, likely leveraging the impending mansion tax, as the purchase was finalized on March 31—just one day before the new tax was set to be implemented. Had the deal closed in April, Molnar would have faced an additional $1.1 million in taxes.
The penthouse impresses visitors with its curved floor-to-ceiling windows that provide sweeping views of the city skyline. The dining area features dark hardwood floors that seamlessly transition into a pristine white kitchen with marble countertops, dual islands, and top-of-the-line appliances. Additional highlights include a soundproof movie theater with plush velour seating, a master suite with a curved bedroom, two custom closets, two bathrooms, and a separate lounge. The residence also boasts four distinct outdoor terraces offering panoramic vistas of the Pacific Ocean, Catalina Island, Downtown Los Angeles, the San Gabriel Mountains, and even snow-capped Mount Baldy.
Rihanna’s new penthouse comes with a substantial monthly HOA fee of $8,814, which grants her access to the building’s premier amenities, including four dedicated parking spaces, 24-hour concierge service, security, an outdoor pool, lush gardens, on-site storage, a restaurant, conference rooms, and more.
