Choosing the one that both your eyes and mind will appreciate at first sight is very difficult with the variety of tattoo designs and techniques now on offer. But the featured tattooist today is a true philosopher rather than just an artist. The woman truly loves everyone who enters her life in addition to her artwork, which is exquisitely and deliberately detailed. These kind of artists are game changers and encourage people to see the magic of life by means of tattoos.
Art is something that’s in Sion’s genes.

Sion’s mother, a tattooist as well, provides her great inspiration for tattoo culture. She had always enjoyed seeing her mother lost in her work from early years.
Sion says, “Also, the moment I realized how powerful the messages on the skin could be exhibited to individuals, I was so fascinated by it and decided that this was going to be my life work. This is because the act of leaving a mark on one’s body, even at the cost of having to endure the pain, is a noble spirit that can represent memory, friendship, love, or oneself, which are desired to be kept forever in one’s mind.”

Sion’s creative energy shines in a rather number of ways. She particularly like conventional Korean beauty. “Out of this, the emotional beauty of daenggi (a ribbon), norigae, an ornamental silver knife, knots, and plum blossoms is what I would want to continuously express,” she says, pointing out some symbols that are a real source of fresh tattoo ideas.
Surprisingly, too, the poetry inspires the artist since it guides her to make actual body art masterpieces.

Tattoos with traditional knots really appeal to Sion. She says that a Korean traditional knot represents Korea’s native attitude of the tying and cutting of personal bonds.
She says, “Here, just like how the knots get more tangled once hastily untied by force, the relationship between individuals is something that cannot be broken by force. Yet, if necessary, it should be untied, one by one, slowly, so that the remaining affection between individuals is not harmed.”

Sion enjoys reading books and picking new knowledge when she is not working. She not only tattoos but also finds great pleasure in photo-related work. She therefore experiments with photography on her days off.
The tattooist enjoys doing group projects as well. She gets a lot of great ideas and learns a lot during her tattoo-related photo sessions with other photographers. She developed a passion for photography as, in her view, it has a comparable attraction to tattoos in that it can endure lifetime.

Among other plans for the future, Sion wants to see how her native country’s tattoo community will develop more.
She says, “There were more opposing views than favorable views toward tattoos up until my mother’s time. However, I am relieved to see the Korean tattoo culture settling down and developing today.”
