Kim Kardashian has shared the challenges of parenting a child with a learning difference. The reality TV star, whose daughter North West, 11, has been diagnosed with dyslexia, posted a video on Instagram Stories featuring her friend Lauren Sánchez discussing her children’s book, The Fly Who Flew to Space. In the video, Sánchez talked about her own childhood struggles with dyslexia.
Kim, 43, commented on the post: “I’m sharing this not just because she’s my friend, but because every mom dealing with a child with dyslexia or any learning difference needs to hear that things will get better.” North had previously disclosed her dyslexia diagnosis during a TikTok livestream, prompting Kim to respond with, “Northie, you’re sharing too much,” and asking her to end the livestream, noting she prefers to keep such matters private.
Despite her young age, North, whose father is rapper Kanye West, has already expressed ambitions to follow in her parents’ footsteps in business. In an interview with i-D magazine, she revealed her desire to eventually own Yeezy and Skims and said she plans to start earning money by walking dogs to buy art supplies.
North also described herself as her biggest style icon and summed up her existence with the words: “Blessed, awesome, cool,” describing herself as “The Best Ever.” She also cherishes a Michael Jackson jacket her mom gifted her for Christmas.
Although Kim and Kanye divorced in 2021, they have maintained a cordial relationship for the sake of their children, attending North’s basketball games together. North has developed a strong passion for basketball, calling it “a lifestyle” rather than just a hobby. She fondly remembers starting out in the sport and marvels at how much she has improved since then.
Kim and Kanye, who were married in Florence in 2014, are co-parenting their four children: North, 10, Saint, 7, Chicago, 5, and Psalm, 4.
