Disgraced rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs was arrested late Monday in New York on unspecified federal charges. The arrest follows recent federal raids on his homes in Miami and Los Angeles as part of an ongoing investigation into sex trafficking.
Combs, 54, was apprehended in the lobby of a Manhattan hotel by Homeland Security officers. According to his lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, Combs had been cooperating with the investigation and had even relocated to New York in anticipation of potential charges.
Agnifilo expressed disappointment with the decision to prosecute Combs, stating that they believe it is an unjust action by the US Attorney’s Office. The US Attorney for Manhattan, Damian Williams, confirmed Combs’s arrest but noted that the details of the charges have not yet been disclosed. Williams stated, “We expect to move to unseal the indictment in the morning and will provide more information at that time.”
In addition, there are reports that investigators involved in Combs’s case are working with prosecutors in the ongoing murder trial of Tupac Shakur. This collaboration involves federal authorities coordinating with the Clark County District Attorney’s office in Las Vegas, which is investigating Tupac’s 1996 shooting.
