Jackson, 75, and Travolta, 70, portrayed hitmen Jules Winnfield and Vincent Vega in the film, which not only revitalized Travolta’s career but also elevated Jackson’s and solidified Tarantino’s reputation as a major cinematic talent. In addition to Pulp Fiction, Jackson played an NYPD detective in the John Singleton-directed remake of Shaft, which originally hit theaters in 1971, earning over $12 million from a budget of about $1.25 million. The original film led to two sequels in the ’70s: Shaft’s Big Score! and Shaft in Africa. Jackson’s version, released in 2000, grossed over $107 million.
